I finished my Wilton Cake Decorating Class and had a great time! I learned new things and taught my teacher some new things. The last class was to have roses and a two layered cake!
This top layer is made with two color fondants and is rolled together. If you want to try this here are the directions:
1: Roll and cut out the the first color and simple shapes or decorations
2: Put the shapes on the mat where you want them in the fondant.
3: The side that is facing up with clear vanilla brush some on
4: With the second color roll it out just a little off to the side
5: When big enough to cover the shapes you have them put the 2nd color fondant over the 1st color & shapes
6: Then roll to fit your cake.
Doing it this way I found helped in two ways one it made the decoration on the right side for flipping over and the placing the first color on top (which I did in my heart cake the lower layer) distorted the top shape a lot and was not impressed into the second color as well!
Here is an up close of my rose made of fondant.
Here is the bottom layer where you can see the difference of placing the first color in this case blue on top.
Here is the top layer doing this the best way so far!
